Main Features

A meandering streambed replaces the concrete channel. Classroom spaces support outdoor learning for both schools. Play structures engage children. Everyone can walk or ride on paths that connect to the streets and each other. 

Grading

Slopes vary to slow flood water and to provide visual interest and streamside access. Where not covered in gravel or rock, they hold native grasses that can be mowed and walked.

The smaller the first number, the steeper the slope (3:1 is steeper than 10:1).

• Side slopes of 3:1 are located at the stream entry and exit and at the concrete pillars that form two pedestrian bridges.

• The side slope of 7:1 provides easy streamside access to neighborhood users and students from Mann Middle School.

• The side slope of 10:1 provides easy streamside access to neighborhood users and students from Stratton Elementary School.

Plants

Trees—shade, evergreen, and ornamental—are drought tolerant.
